Dear Ovid Customer:
Since the release of OvidSP on October 25th, 2007, we have received a tremendous amount of feedback from customers across the globe as they begin to use the new platform and share it with their users. We are taking into account the suggestions many of you have offered on additional enhancements you think would go even further toward improving the search and discovery process.
Our customers have asked and we have answered: Change for the Syntax tab name
One of the most popular enhancement suggestions has been the renaming of the “Syntax” tabs. In response, we have decided upon a solution that we believe appropriately reflects the needs and desires of all of our customers.
That’s why on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00am EST (4:00pm GMT; click here for a World Time Zone converter), the Ovid Syntax tab will change to “Advanced Ovid Search.”
See below for a screenshot of the new tab.

Though many customers requested “Advanced Search,” we had to find a solution that would accommodate customers who also have the SilverPlatter platform. We could not rename both the Ovid Syntax tab and the SilverPlatter Syntax tabs to “Advanced Search”, as this would most certainly cause confusion to those customers using both products, and who would thereby see both tabs.
The time for implementing the tab name was selected to ensure a smooth transition prior to the automatic migration to OvidSP scheduled for the weekend. Please note that this change will not interrupt service in any way.
Reminder - Gateway Retirement is February 3rd
The automatic migration of Ovid Web Gateway is scheduled for Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 3:30pm EST/8:30PM GMT).
